March,23 - World Meteorological Day
World Meteorological Day is celebrated today under the motto `Preventing and
mitigating natural disasters`. This day commemorates the entry into force on March 23, 1950 of the convention creating the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as the successor to the International Meteorological Organisation (IMO) established in 1873. It is celebrated annually by countries all over the world. With its aim to enhance inter-governmental and international cooperation, this
organization was established to promote the protection of life and property against weather phenomena on the planet.
Our best wishes and congratulations to people having relation to meteorology,
both professionals and amateurs.
